The Oral Report

Standing up in front of the class was never so much fun!

The rantings and ravings of a mom of three wonderful girls as she finds new love while working like a dog and shaking her fist at the system. You know. Pretty much like everybody else.

No Ticket Series - V

...and worth every penny!

It's been a looooooooong time comin', Gang! Haven't done one of these since last May (I checked). Oh, I've wanted to, but who has time for such frivolity?

Me, apparently. Heh.

For the uninitiated (and there can't be more than a couple of you), this is where I do a "virtual concert". This concert is all about the music currently being played pretty much non-stop at my place....a.k.a. Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock.

First, a little commentary.

There are several songs on this game that I truly LOVE.

Truly.

I suppose it's only fair that there are many that I could do entirely without. Well, not so much "fair" as "painfully unfortunate for me". And, well, since it's my concert, I am under no obligation to include them here.

And I'm not.

So there.

Find them yourself if you're that interested. Here's a list of the whole shebang...

Also, I must note that I am completely stymied (and aghast) by the fact that there is not one Jimi Hendrix song on this game...not one...and I think that is an inexcusable, unforgiveable travesty that demands a little letter-writing, and we'll try to move on from there.

But for Lars Umlaut, Casey Lynch and "Lou", grab your axe with both hands and get ready to rock out, because the No Ticket Concert Series V is proud to present, Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock - The Originals!!!!

Living Colour - CULT OF PERSONALITY

Guns & Roses - WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE

Foghat - SLOW RIDE (which I've heard about a fifty times in the last few weeks)

Pearl Jam - EVEN FLOW

Scorpions - ROCK YOU LIKE A HURRICANE

Cream - SUNSHINE OF YOUR LOVE

Blue Oyster Cult - CITIES ON FLAME WITH ROCK AND ROLL

Kiss - ROCK AND ROLL ALL NIGHT

The Who - THE SEEKER (German intro, English song)

Heart - BARRACUDA (One of the few up here I've seen performed live...more than once even!)

Metallica - ONE

Stevie Ray Vaughn - PRIDE AND JOY

Rolling Stones - PAINT IT BLACK

Santana - BLACK MAGIC WOMAN

Alice Cooper - SCHOOL'S OUT

Mountain - MISSISSIPPI QUEEN

No Ticket Friday!

It's a Flashback Friday!...

It's a No Ticket Concert...

It's two great tastes in one!

Other than true Monkees fans, who'd a thunk they had so many songs? Not I, I tell ya.

I must away now, as chaos abounds, careening headfirst into my weekend. [Kid 2] had her final orchesta concert of the year last night. It was rather enjoyable, as the entire group plays well and the pieces selected for the concert were (with one or two exceptions) familiar and/or a delight.

[Kid 1] had her final concert earlier this week. A much more low key affair, but she received several honors and awards before the evening was over, and also received a bouquet of flowers from her chorus teacher. Not bad, huh?

Tonight, [Kid 3] has a "Fiesta Night" at her school. A celebration of the end of the school year. (Tuesday is the last day of school.) Music, games and food. It should be a good time. I'm sure Highlander can hardly wait...;)

I hope all of you have a great weekend!!

No Ticket Series - III

Haven't had much desire to do one of these lately, as I seem to be on You Tube constantly already. However, I was thinking about this and how much several of us seem to like American Idol. Sooooo, it just kind of seemed natural to do a "Best of American Idol" concert, that has some of my favorite performances from the show.

I'm certain I'm going to leave out far too many great ones, especially those that are duplicate song choices (see Lakisha Jones "Midnight Train to Georgia" and Vonzell Solomon "I Have Nothing" to name a couple), but some of these are pretty memorable renditions. Hope you all enjoy this one!

No Ticket Series - II

Haven't done one of these in a while...

But, hey, it's deluging here in River City, so why not hang on the computer while we're trapped indoors. By Tuesday, we'll have flooding everywhere. So, kind of in the tradition of Nero fiddling while Rome burned, how about another You Tube concert?

Many call her the "Goth Princess" of the music scene, but none will argue that Amy Lee has one of the most powerful and hauntingly angelic voices around. [Kid 1] introduced me to her about 4-5 years ago and I've been a fan ever since.

While most of her work has been as the "front man" for Evanescence, I've also included a collaboration she did with Seether, as well. I'll start with the first song I ever heard her do. It's an acoustic version and will (hopefully) show you that that gorgeous voice is not a product of serious production techniques.

No Ticket Series - I

Early this morning, as my darling Highlander was sleeping in a little, I came up with an idea I thought would be fun. I heard a popular song on a commercial (one of the deadliest of sins in Highlander's world) for Sam's Club and MasterCard. The song was performed by the first band I ever saw in concert. That was in 1978.

Seeing the commercial made me want to go to You Tube and listen to it all the way through (and with the video of the band). When I did, I found it only sparked the aforementioned idea (which is likely not a novel one, just that it had only then occurred to me).

Sooooo, I have put together a You Tube concert, of sorts. The first in the (what is sure to be) sporadic No Ticket Series concerts.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

The Beach Boys...

Beach Boys - Little Deuce Coupe

Beach Boys-Good Vibrations

Beach Boys - California Girls

Beach Boys - Fun Fun Fun

The Beach Boys - Wouldn't It Be Nice

Sloop John B

Beach Boys-In My Room

THE BEACH BOYS - I GET AROUND

The Beach Boys - Surfer Girl

Beach Boys - Don't Worry Baby

The Beach Boys - Help Me, Rhonda

God Only Knows

Time to go home now! Hope you enjoyed the show and if you have artist requests, let me know.
